August 2004 Update

Hello from Madrid!

I hope you all are having a good summer. Things really slow down here in
the summer--there are signs on several stores and restaurants in my
neighborhood that announce they will be closed the whole month of August!

It's still summer here, but fall is coming on quickly. This weekend, I
leave for a conference in Amsterdam with Christian Associates International
(the organization that the church staff here works for), then a week of
vacation, and suddenly, it will be almost September! Here are some things
that are lined up for the fall:

School time!!!----I register on September 14, and then classes begin October
1. To be honest, I'm a
little bit nervous. I've not been out of school long, but it
has been long enough to get used to not being a student anymore!
Please pray for God to use these classes to make
relationships that will make a difference for HIS Kingdom, and
that He will provide the funds needed by the registration date.

Now that I have lived here a while, I'm even more thankful for
the location of my flat--two
blocks from the edge of campus. Many of the students I meet
will be living with roommates or with a family, so being able to
have a place to come hang out is really important. I have
already seen this spring and summer how God is using my flat
for a place for people to , and I praise God for providing
me with a home that creates that place!

Mountainview Int'l ChurchCommunity Group---in September, all the members of
the Wednesday night group will finally return from their
travels. We will be studying the book of Hebrews. It's
great to be part of a group that grows together and ministers to each other.

Making connections---I still plan to continue helping out with the GBU Bible
study on campus,
meeting regularly with Ana, the group leader. She and I also
are planning to do an
intercambio (English/Spanish language exchange) with a friend
of hers who is exploring
Christianity, and we're hoping to get more students involved in
a group intercambio.

...So there is a brief (or actually, not so brief--sorry about that!)
outlook for the fall here in Madrid. I'm excited to see what He has
planned.

Here are some things you can pray about---
Prayers:
Sunday--pray that I would grow daily in my love for God and would trust HIM
in every aspect of my life

Monday--praise God for the wonderful family He has given me through the
Mountainview International
Church. Continue to pray for His will as we seek God together
as a church.

Tuesday--pray for my safe travel to the conference in Amsterdam and to visit
friends in England the
week afterward. I will be traveling August 7-21.

Wednesday--ask God to raise up more Impact staff to come work in Madrid

Thursday--ask God to use the classes I will be taking to bring along
relationships that will build up
HIS Kingdom

Friday--pray for the new Wednesday night community group, that God will lead
us to the curriculum
He wants us to use to bring us closer to Him and to each other
as a community

Saturday--ask God to provide the necessary funds for me to go to school
here. The 1500 euros
($2000) is due in September when I register for classes.
Praise God for being the great
provider!

If you would like to support me monthly or send in support for school funds,
you can send a check to Impact Ministries International with my name in the
memo (the address is at the bottom of this email), or if you would like to
commit to support me in prayer, please contact me and let me know! My
desire is for everything I do to be founded and surrounded in prayer--God is
so powerful!

Thank you so much for your prayers, support, and encouragement! I want to
be able to pray for you also, so if there is anything that I can pray for
you about, please contact me and let me know.

"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and
in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." Gal.
3:20-21

Praising HIM,
