February 2005 Update
Hello All,
I apologize for not sending out a January newsletter! With all the
traveling, seeing family and friends, visiting churches, and returning back
to Spain, it was a crazy month! For a quick recap, I went back to the U.S.
for 3 1/2 weeks to see family and friends and spend Christmas at home in KY.
It was a wonderful time, and it was nice to be home and see everyone
again, and it was a really refreshing time of rest.
Things were in full swing for me almost as soon as I returned here to Spain,
and they haven't let up yet! The community group just finished our study of
Hebrews and will celebrate with a fondue party this week before we start an
in-depth look at some of the great heroes of the Old and New Testament.
Mountainview International Church had our monthly Oasis service in the city
Saturday night, and several new arrivals to Madrid came and are hopefully
going to plug into community groups. A large group of us went out to eat
afterwards, and it was a great time getting to know everyone! Studio time
on Friday is going well--one of the girls who comes regularly brought a
friend this week who is very vocally anti-anything to do with church, but
loves art and has a great time hanging out. We're praying that God will
work in her heart through the relationships she's forming. With classes,
I'm taking some really hard finals right now, so I'll be glad when that's
over with. I don't have a very good memory in Spanish! That's a quick
recap of what's going on here....now for the funny story. You probably want
an explanation of the picture below!
In case you wondered, yes, that green thing is my backpack, and the black
line is the bus door. I was cramming myself onto a crowded bus from my
class building. The good news--I made it. The bad news--half of my
backpack didn't, the bus driver didn't hear me asking him to open the door,
and I had to ride 5 minutes in heavy traffic until the next stop like that.
I was pinned to the door because the backpack was pulled tight, but luckily
my friend Marianna was with me and had her camera. She was also able to
tell me about the reactions of people on the sidewalk and in cars to the
floating backpack on the outside of the bus. Evidently I entertained a lot
of people that day! Yet another adventure in the life and times of Kelly
Wills.....
Here are some things you can pray about this month--one for each day of the
week!
Sunday:Pray that Jesus will remain my focus and that I won't put busyness or
ministry before Him.
Monday: Praise God for Mountainview International Church's influence in
Madrid and my life, and ask God to bless their staff richly this month.
Tuesday: Pray for the new contacts Mountainview has made in the past
month--that God will use our church to impact their lives for HIS Kingdom.
Wednesday: Pray for the Wednesday night community group--that God will draw
us closer to Him through our time together and the study we're doing
together.
Thursday: Ask for God's continued financial provision--praise Him that He
always provides!
Friday: Lift up the studio time today--especially ask God to open Lelia's
(the new girl's) heart to Him, and that we will be a loving example of the
Jesus' love to her.
Saturday: Ask God to raise up opportunities for new relationships with
non-Christians this month.
Thanks so much for your love, support, and prayers. I thank God for you!
Praising HIM,
Kelly
